We are proud to announce the launch of our new website, marking the next step in MDM’s journey. This launch does not only represent our digital debut, it also signifies the official unveiling of a mission deeply rooted in the maritime sector: to systematically strengthen cybersecurity on and around the water.
Cybersecurity for an interconnected maritime world
The maritime sector is rapidly increasing its digitalization. Vessels are becoming more and more connected to systems that integrate navigation, engine control, and communication into a single digital network. While this development makes operations more efficient, it also increases exposure to cyber risks.
MDM addresses this new reality with a clear focus: cybersecurity specifically designed for maritime environments, rather than generic IT solutions adapted for onboard use.
From development to implementation: MDM-PROTECT
MDM-PROTECT forms the technological core of this approach. The compact onboard cybersecurity unit acts as a digital gatekeeper, monitoring all onboard network traffic 24/7, with a direct focus on the early detection and blocking of cyber threats.
In recent months, MDM-PROTECT has been extensively tested and further refined in an operational environment, in close collaboration with Wijgaart Shipping, Jansma International, aXite Security Tools, and Shipping Technology. On board the MTS West Virginia, the system has been actively deployed to protect both IT and OT systems within a live ship environment.
Next Step in Digital Maritime Safety
The launch of the new website marks the first major public step in the development of MDM within the maritime sector. This further highlights the company’s commitment to strengthening digital infrastructures and making them structurally safer in an environment where connectivity and operational safety are becoming increasingly intertwined.
